The State Farm Companies Foundation Scholarship Program recognizes academically talented legal dependents of eligible State Farm® associates (employee, agent, or retiree*).
100 scholarships are awarded each spring during the senior year of high school. The scholarship award is $5,000 per year up to four years of college (undergraduate study) or until baccalaureate degree requirements are completed, whichever occurs first.
Students attending junior colleges are also eligible as long as the student is pursuing a baccalaureate degree and is enrolled as a full-time undergraduate.
The annual competition is conducted through National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).
Winners will be notified by May of the student's senior year. Only those who advance in the competition will be notified and receive materials from National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

The children of agents' staff are not eligible to participate in this scholarship program, as well as grandchildren of agents, retirees, and company employees.

To participate in the program, students must take the qualifying test, the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) during the proper high school year. In general, students who spend the usual four years in grades 9 through 12 must take the PSAT/NMSQT when they are in their third year (grade 11/junior year). A participant also must be a citizen of the United States; or be a U.S. lawful permanent resident (or have applied for permanent residence, the application for which has not been denied) and intend to become a U.S. citizen at the earliest opportunity allowed by law.
